ELIZABETH ANNA REMPEL
It has pleased the Lord to call unto Himself Elizabeth Anna Rempel, daughter of Rev. David P. and the late Elizabeth Nickel Eitzen. She was born on Sept. 12, 1911, at Mountain Lake, Minn., and departed from this life on June 4, 1957, at her home in Downey, Calif. She attained the age of 45 years, eight months and 22 days.
Apart from two serious illnesses in her youth, she was a healthy and courageous person. Four years ago a cancerous growth was discovered. Medical treatment seemed to arrest its course. In the meantime her husband was overtaken with cancer and passed into the Beyond March 13, 1956. In October her condition became more serious, involving intense suffering. She utilized this condition to seek prayerfully with her three children for the Lord's will. All four lived in steadfast faith.
Her education began in the Preparatory Bible School of Mountain Lake. The brethren D. H. Fast and N. N. Hiebert were her principal teachers. She also studied at the Northwestern Bible School of Minneapolis. She was greatly interested in gospel music.
Her father ministered to her the rite of holy baptism upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour and Lord when she was 15 years of age. He also officiated at her marriage to Henry H. Rempel in 1942 at the Immanuel Mennonite Church, Los Angeles.
Their Christian walk together will be a constant guide to their three children: Erwin Henry, 12; Norman David, 11; and Barbara Elizabeth 9.
She is survived by her parents, Rev. and Mrs. D. P. Eitzen, Mt. Lake, Minn., and her three brothers and their wives, David and Amanda of Claremont, Calif.; Peter and Susie of Mt. Lake, Minn.; Alvin and Lena of Frazer, Mont., who were named guardians of the children by their mother.
