Pioneer Blacksmith At Altona Died

Altona, Manitoba. — Funeral services for A. W. Rempel, blacksmith here for a number of years, were held at the Altona Bergthaler church on Aug. 3, Bishop D. Schulz and Rev. P. P. Kehler in charge.

Mr. Rempel learned the blacksmith trade as an orphan youth in Russia, the land of his birth. When a young man, his uncle Abram Rempel of Altona paid his passage to Canada. He was married here to Katherine Rempel on Nov. 15, 1902.

Mr. Rempel had served on the village council and school board for a number of years and was a member of the original Altona band.
