Mrs. John J. Reimer was born July 14, 1877 near Hillsboro, Kan., the daughter of John W. and Maria (Funk) Ratzlaff. On June 28, 1891 she was baptized by Elder Benjamin Unruh and joined the Brudertal Mennonite Church. In 1917 she transferred her membership to the First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro, where she was a member at the time of her death.

On Sept. 4, 1902 she married John J. Reimer. They were blessed with six children, two sons and four daughters. One daughter and one son preceded them in death.

In 1905 they homesteaded in Beaver County, Okla., near Hooker, and remained there until 1913 when they returned to Kansas. They farmed near Hillsboro until 1928 when they moved into town. In 1952 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

After father suffered a stroke they moved to the Home for the Aged, where she helped care for him until his death in 1958. She continued living at the home.

After a short illness she passed away at the Salem hospital in Hillsboro on Feb. 18, 1964. She reached the age of 86 years, seven months and four days.

Mother has left many sweet memories to the following: Her son John, her daughter, Linda (Mrs. Ed F. Jost), Luella (Mrs. John F. Jost), and Mary (Mrs. Floyd Cartwright); 11 grandchildren, 16, great- grandchildren, four sisters and many relatives and friends. — The Family.
