KATHARINA REIMER

Mrs. Katharina Reimer, daughter of Cornelius and Mary Regehr, was born April 21, 1905, in the Crimea, South Russia. Her parents migrated to Canada in 1926. They came to the Virgil area in 1939.

Mrs. Reimer was baptized upon confession of her faith in 1942, and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church where she remained a member for the rest of her life.

On December 7, 1941 she was united in marriage to Friedrich Reimer. Two children, Susie and John, were born to them. After nine years of marriage, Mr. Reimer passed away in December 1950.

Shortly afterwards, Mrs. Reimer and her two children moved into the town of Virgil. She lived here until impaired vision and poor health sent her to the St.Catharines Institute for the Blind. From there she went to the Home for the Aged in Vineland. The last two years of her life she lived in Tabor Manor, St. Catharines.

Mrs. Reimer's life was not easy, but she kept her faith to the end. In childlike faith she committed herself to the Lord again and again.

On May 1 she was taken to the General Hospital and went to be with the Lord May 18. Close to the end she was heard to say, "shall never perish, but have everlasting life."

She is survived by a daughter, Susie of Vineland; a son, John of Ottawa; one granddaughter; four brothers, Henry Regehr, John Warkentin, and Peter Warkentin, all of Toronto, and Cornelius Regehr of Lowbanks, Ont.; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Penner of Toronto, Mrs. Ann Seider of Jordan, and a sister in Whitby, Ont.
