JACOB HEINRICH REIMER
Jacob Heinrich Reimer was born November 15, 1893 in the Vladimir Forestry Station, south Russia, to Rev. Heinrich and Margarethe (nee Regehr) Reimer. During the first world war he served in the medical corps on trains transporting wounded soldiers. In the fall of 1918. while teaching at Molotschna, he found the Lord and was baptized into the Alliance Church in Lichtfeld. He married a teaching colleague, Lydia Dyck in 1922.
They moved to Canada in 1924, settling in Saskatchewan. He attended Herbert Bible School and MCI in Gretna, Man. He taught for many years in southern Manitoba, at Steinbach, Altona. and Grunthal. His wife died in 1937. A year later he married Agentha Klassen of Winnipeg. In 1944 the Reimers moved to Vineland, Ontario, where he was employed by English Electric of St. Catharines. They retired in St. Catharines and three years ago moved to the Sunset Homes apartments for senior citizens.
Mr. Reimer enjoyed singing and even in his later years he sang in the German Choir and male choir. A severe stroke led to his passing on May 5. A funeral service was held June 2 at the Scott St. Mennonite Brethren Church, St. Catharines.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Aganetha; two sons and their wives. Harry and Barbara of Etobicoke. Ont., and Jim and Helen of Ottawa; two daughters, Annetta (Mrs. Willi) Toews and Helen (Mrs. Walter) Bergmann, both of Ontario; ten grandchildren; two brothers, George and Abram; two sisters (Mrs.) Sara Kornelsen and (Mrs.) Mary Schmidt: and many friends.
