HENRY J. REIMER

Henry J. Reimer, of Goessel, Kan., son of John and Aganetha Boese Reimer, was born June 7, 1887 in the Spring Valley community in McPherson County. He attended the North Blumenfeld School.

He was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior June 3, 1906 by Elder Peter Balzer and received into the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel.

He was married to Susie Loewen on May 22, 1910, with Rev. Heinrich Banman officiating. They lived on a farm in McPherson County most of their married life. In 1960 they moved to Goessel. In the ensuing years Mrs. Reimer's health failed and she became a patient in the Bethesda Hospital in September of 1962, where she remains a patient to this time. Mr. Reimer became a resident of the Bethesda Home in 1964. They were privileged to celebrate their 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries.

Mr. Reimer was always active in the life of the church. In 1925 he was elected as a deacon of the congregation, and served in this office until 1964 when he resigned because of his health. He served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. He also served on the board of the grade school and high school.

He entered the Bethesda Hospital Jan. 2, 1967 and went to his heavenly home on Jan. 13, having reached the age of 79 years.

Those remaining to cherish the memory of his love and life are his wife, Susie, Goessel; their seven children, Milton of rural Canton, John of rural Hillsboro, Wilbert of Savage, Minn., Eldon of Newton, Richard of rural Canton, Elsie, Mrs. Orville Unruh, rural Newton, and Rosella, Cedar Rest Home, Peabody; 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
