Gerhard F. Reimer, Sohn von Lernhard [sic] und Anna Friesen Reimer, ward am 27. Febr. 1874 geboren und starb am 10. Okt. 1945 im Alter von 71 J. 7 M. und 17 Tagen. 1877 kam er mit seinen Eltern von Rußland nach McPherson, Kansas, wo er seine Schulbildung erhielt. Später besuchte er noch Bethel College. Als er 17 Jahre alt war, wurde er auf den Glauben an Jesum getauft und in die Hoffnungsau Gemeinde aufgenommen. am 1. April 1900 heiratete er Eva Kroeker und es wurden ihnen 14 Kinder geboren, wovon 3 Söhne ihm vorangingen, alle plötzlich. 1915 zog die Familie nach Oklahoma und von dort in 1924 nach Reedley, Calif., wo sie sich der Ersten Gemeinde anschloßen und er ein treues Glied blieb. Manches Schwere haben die Eltern in ihrem Eheleben durchgemacht, aber in Liebe half eins dem andern tragen. Er bekam im Juni 1944 ein Herzleiden, was auch zuletzt sein Ende herbeiführte. Er trug sein Leiden in Gduld [sic], hat viel gebetet, und oft gesagt, der Heiland hat so viel für mich getan, und fühlte sich nicht wert der Gnade, die ihm durch Jesu Blut zuteil wurde. Er war bereit zu gehen, und schaut nun, was er geglaubt. Es trauern um ihn nebst Gattin, 5 Söhne und 6 Töchter, 2 Schwestern, 1 Bruder, 3 Schwiegersöhne, 2 Schwägerinnen, 4 Schwiegertöchter und viele Freunde, aber in der vollen Hoffnung ihn wiederzusehen.

Endlich kam er leise,
Nahm ihn bei der Hand,
Führte ihn von der Reise
Heim ins Vaterland.

Mrs. J. B. Reimer of Inman, mother of Mrs. P. D. Gaeddert of Newton, recently left for Reedley, California, where she attended the funeral of her brother-in-law, George Reimer. The services were held on Monday, October 15, at the Reedley Mennonite church, with Rev. P. K. Regier in charge. It will be remembered that George Reimer formerly lived at Goessel where he owned a grocery store and also had charge of the Post Office. He with his family then moved to Oklahoma and later to Reedley, California. While in California, Mrs. Reimer will also visit at B. B. Reimer home. She plans to stay in the West for several months.

GEORGE F. REIMER

George F. Reimer was born in Conteniusfeld, South Russia, February 27, 1874. At the age of three he came with his parents to Burrton, Harvey county, Kansas.

His parents settled on a farm 10 miles south of McPherson, where he received his elementry [sic] education. He later attended Bethel College in Newton, Kansas. He was baptized into the First Mennonite church at the age of 17 years in McPherson county, Kansas. He was married in 1900 to Eva Kroeker. They were blessed with 14 children and 16 grandchildren. Three sons died accidently [sic]; Bernard drowned, Herbert died in the dentist's chair and Paul is reported missing in action with the U. S. Army Air Corps.

For the past 20 years the Reimers have lived in Reedley, where he owned the West Side Grocery store for over four years. Eight of his children graduated from the Reedley Joint Union high school.

He passed away peacefully in the Burnett Hospital, Fresno, on Oct. 10, 1945, after more than a year of illness. Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite church in Reedley, Monday, Oct. 15, 1945.

Most of the family were present, including: Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Reimer of Whittier, Calif., Sgt. and Mrs. H. V. Nash of Camp Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Reimer, of Reedley, Sgt. Carl Reimer, of Camp Hood, Texas, Cpl. Lewis Reimer, of Salina, Kansas, Roy Reimer S2/c, Coast Guard, San Pedro, and Dora and Marjorie Reimer, of Reedley. Two daughters, Mrs. Ray Poulsen, and Mrs. Alvin Lans, liing in Colorado, were unable to attend. Present were also two sisters of the deceased, Mrs. Agnes Giesbrecht and daughter Anna and Miss Justina Reimer and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Kate Reimer, Buhler, Kansas; one brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Reimer, Reedley, and their sons Joe Reimer of Watsonville; Otto Reimer, Reedley; Mr. and Mrs. Joy kliewer, Reedley, and nephews and neices [sic] of G. F. Reimer, Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Berg of San Jose, Emma Berg of Fresno; Hilda Christ, Jake and Curt Kroeker of Reedley.
