— Word has been received by Mrs. P. D. Gaeddert of the death of her aunt, Mrs. Eva Reimer, 74, at Reedley, Calif. Mrs. Reimer passed away Jan. 18 as a result of a heart attack, and funeral services were conducted last Saturday forenoon at the First Mennonite church of Reedley, Rev. Aaron Epp officiating. Mrs. Reimer and her husband, George F. Reimer, who died several years ago, were both former residents of the Goessel community. A daughter, Mrs. Pete Ediger, the former Marjorie Reimer, is a graduate of Bethel College and is also well known here. She and her husband are serving the new congregation at Fresno, Calif.

MRS. EVA REIMER

Mrs. Eva Reimer, our dear mother, was born in Marion county, Kansas, on August 19, 1881, to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kroeker.

When she was six years old, the family moved to Oklahoma, pioneering on a homestead there. She and her sister Anna were left with relatives in Kansas to go to school. She lived with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Richert, for nine years. B. B. Reimer, who later became her brother-in-law, was her teacher through eight years of grammar school. During this time she became converted for the Faith by which she lived all her life. She was baptized and became a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite church near Goessel, Kansas, in 1898.

On April 1, 1900, she became the faithful wife of G. F. Reimer, who owned a store in Elbing, Kansas at the time. To this union were born 14 children, eight sons and six daughters. Three sons, Bernard, Herbert, and Paul, and her husband preceded her in death.

The surviving children are: Mrs. Tillie Poulsen, Eaton, Colo.; Elise Reimer, Aubrn, Calif.; Earnest Reimer, Whittier, Calif.; Mrs. Hilda Nash, Greeley, Colo.; Mrs. Martha Lans, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Albert Reimer, Reedley, Calif.; Carl Reimer, Montebello, Calif.; Dora Reiemr, Reedley; Lewis Reimer, Dinuba, Calif.; Roy Reimer, Reedley; and Mrs. Marjorie Ediger of Fresno, Calif.

There are 20 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving are two brothers, George P. Kroeker of Springfield, Colo., and Paul Kroeker of Turpin, Okla., and one sister, Mrs. P. W. Berg of San Jose, Calif., besides many other relatives.

On Dec. 11, 1954, mother underwent major surgery in the Fresno Community hospital. She was able to leave the hospital Dec. 21, and stayed two weeks at the home of her son Albert, where his wife Helen, who is a nurse, and her and her daughter Dora gave her most tender care. On Dec. 30 at midnight fainted from what doctors though was a heart attack. She rallied again so that she was able to be up to eat her meals each day. However, she was quite weak and tired easily.

She returned to her own home Jan. 7, 1955, and seemed to be getting better slowly, till about 9:00 on the morning of Jan. 18 when she fainted again while walking to the living room, leaning on the arms of her daughter. the doctor came quickly and said it was a heart attack and that she had to go to the hospital for oxygen. She had regained consciousness and remained conscious to the end, which came peacefully at 12:30 that afternoon. She was 73 years and five months of age.

Mother was a faithful member of the First Mennonite church in Reedley for 29 years. She belonged to the ladies' Missionary Society and served as work chairman for some time. She was a wonderful Christian mother. This "earthly temple" of her courageous spirit will go the way of the hundreds of millions who lived before her. One of the greatest miracles will be its restitution when God's measure of time is full and the souls of the blessed shall again be clothed. We will miss her love and prayers. Her wish was that we would all meet her in Eternity.
