text of obituary:

CORNELIUS A. REIMER

Cornelius A. Reimer was born at Jansen, Nebr. on Sept. 18, 1897 to Klass [sic Klaas] and Agenetha [sic Aganetha] Friesen Reimer, and passed from this life on Oct. 13, 1959, having reached the age of 62 years and 25 days.

After spending up to his tenth year at Jansen the family moved from Jansen to Meade, Kansas in February 1907. Here as a young man he heard the call from God to repentance and a life of devotion to the Lord, which call he heeded. Being baptized upon the confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, he was accepted into the membership of the Kleine Gemeinde Mennonite church at Meade on July 15, 1917. When in 1944 the Emmanuel Mennonite church was organized he became a member of that church. Though his life had its share of testings and trials he remained steadfast in his faith until the end.

On Jan. 28, 1926 he was united in holy marriage with Katharina Doerksen. Together we spent over 33 years of life, with God's blessings upon the work of our hands and our home. To this union were born four sons and two daughters, of whom one son passed away in infancy. Our father sought with his whole being to further the spiritual as well as the earthly welfare of the family.

Father enjoyed fairly good health most of his life. He was industriously inclined while engaged as a farmer.

On Sept. 16 of last year he took a load of grain to town. While on the way home he met with an accident in which he sustained serious injuries, and he never recovered fully. Mystery enshrouded the cause of the accident. However, later when a coronary condition set in a cardiogram revealed that he had suffered a heart attack on some previous occasion. Thus it may be conjectured that a heart attack may have been the cause of his accident.

His illness and suffering occasioned many inner trials for him. Through injury of his brain in the accident many things of life became meaningless to him. Still, the truths concerning God and the plan of salvation in Christ were vivid and precious.

He suffered a number of attacks in the past few months the last of which came on Monday evening, Oct. 12, through which our Lord chose to call him from earthly life and suffering to his home in heaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Cornelius; three brothers, Jacob A., David A. and Peter A. Reimer; three sisters, Sara (Mrs. Peter L. Classen), Katie A. and Anna A. Reimer.

He leaves to mourn his earthly departure his wife Katharina; three sons, Isaac and Levi, both of Meade, and Martin of the home; two daughters, Lena, temporarily of Newton, Kan., and Agnes of the home; two daughters-in-law; three grandsons and one granddaughter; his aged mother-in-law, Mrs. Bernhard Doerksen of Satanta, Kan.; five sisters, Mary (Mrs. John L. Classen) of Hillsboro, Kan., Elizabeth (Mrs. Henry F. Isaac), and Helen A. Reimer, all of Meade, and Margaret (Mrs. Corny Siemens) of Reedley, Cal.; five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, together with many other relatives and friends. — The Family.
