MRS. AGNES B. REIMER

Mrs. Agnes (Friesen) Reimer was born January 16, 1874, in South Russia, immigrated to Jefferson county, Nebraska, and then to Meade, Kansas in 1907. She passed away to be with the Lord on June 13, 1951, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 28 days, after a prolonged illness brought about by cancer.

She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at the age of 17 and was baptized by Elder 9bram [sic Abram] L. Friesen and accepted into the Mennonite Church.

On January 17, 1892, she was united in marriage to Klass [sic Klaas] B. Reimer, who preceded her in death after sharing joys and sorrows for 39 years, two months and three days.

Our mother was blessed with good health until August 15, 1947, when a gall ailment set in. On March 1, 1950, she was taken to Oklahoma City, where she received radium treatments for cancer. She remained there 10 days but suffered severe pain for several weeks thereafter.

After a few months, however, we were happy to see that her condition had improved so much that the church services she loved, and friends and loved ones could be visited again. But since December 27, 1950, she was almost completely confined to her home due to the recurring illness, and was compelled to spend the last eight days upon her bed.

During this time of illness she had many visitors who were often impressed by her resigned will and her uncomplaining spirit. She put her trust in her Saviour and claimed God's promises for her life and for her death. She found great pleasure in quoting these promises in the German language, such as: "Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today, and forever,” and "Delight thyself also in the Lord, and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” She said that her Lord would lead her and not expect her to bear more than she was able to bear by His grace. Her prayer-life has also been a great inspiration to us. Truly, "Mother's prayer shall follow us.”

The Lord blessed her and was very gracious to her during her illness in allowing her to feel but little pain. She was very tired, however, and was glad to go home to her Saviour and passed away quietly at 11:05 a. m. on Wednesday, June 13, to be with the Lord where there is fulness of eternal joy.

Preceding her in death were: her husband, Klaas B. Reimer, who passed away on March 20, 1931; five children, Sara, Mrs. Peter, L. Classen, Kathryn, David, Pete and Anna; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and six brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by seven children: Mary, Mrs. John L. Classen of Hillsboro; Jacob, Cornelius, Elizabeth, Agnes, (Mrs. Henry L. Friesen), Helen, and Margaret (Mrs. Cornie Siemens), all of Meade; 39 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two brothers, Abe J. and John J. Friesen, also of Meade; and a host of relatives and friends.

Although the sorrow that comes with separation has been keenly felt, and we will all miss her sorely, yet there has been a deep sense of peace and consolation to know that victory complete is hers in Christ Jesus. — The Bereaved Reimer family.
