— Funeral services for Abraham S. Reimer, 72, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Goessel Mennonite church. He passed away at his home in Goessel Saturday afternoon after a long illness. Among the survivors are a sister, Mrs. J. B. Loewen of Newton.

ABRAHAM S. REIMER

Abraham S. Reimer, son of Abraham W. and Maria Schroeder Reimer, was born December 1, 1879, in McPherson county, Kansas and departed this life at his home at Goessel August 2, 1952, at 3:20 p.m. at the age of 72 years eight months and one day.

He was baptized upon the confession of his faith by Elder Peter Balzer and received into the fellowship of the Alexanderwohl church. In 1920 he transferred his membership to the Goessel Mennonite church of which he was a faithful member at the time of his death.

On May 7, 1908, he was married to Sarah Nikkel who passed away on July 30, 1911. To this union was born one daughter.

On May 27, 1912, he was united in marriage to Katherine Buller. To this union were born five daughters. This union lasted 40 years, two months and six days.

He had been failing in health for several years. On September 10, 1951, he suffered a light stroke. His condition was slightly improved when on October 11 he suffered another stroke which left him completely helpless and totally blind. During the time of his illness he never complained about his condition but endured the suffering quietly, always appreciating the visits from neighbors and friends.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, and the following children: Alice and Philip Goertzen, Dora and Arnold Franz, Linda and Melvin Bartel, Lenora and Harold Woelk, Erna and Milda; eight grandchildren, one having preceded him in death, one sister and five brothers and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services held Tuesday afternoon, August 5, at the Goessel Mennonite church with Rev. P. P. Buller and Rev. Edwin Stucky officiating.
