Funeral services for Herman Regier, 76, of Syracuse, Kan. were held Saturday forenoon at the Bethel College Church, with Rev. Esko Loewen officiating. A native of the Moundridge community, Mr. Regier had lived at Syracuse the past 22 years, having extensive farming interests there. He died at his home June 23 of an apparent heart attack. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Justine Claassen of Omaha, Neb. and Mrs. Margaret Pankratz of Buhler; and three brothers, Alvin of King City, Calif., Emil of Denver, Colo., and Sam of North Newton.

Originally from the Moundridge community, he was a 1910 graduate of the Bethel Academy. Regier was an avid reader and a homespun philosopher, who was known also for his rich sense of humor.

At the time of his death, on June 24, 1965, a will could not be found. However, a brother, Sam Regier of North Newton, recalled that Herman had made one while hospitalized some time earlier. fortunately, in a search of his papers the will, still in his own writing, dated and witnessed by a nurse and a doctor, was located.

Regier owned 160 acres in Hamilton County, Kan., and over 1,000 acres in Kiowa County in Colorado.

West Kansas Farmer Bequeaths $30,000 To Bethel College </font></center>

North Newton. — In a handwritten will found among his personal effects, Herman Regier bequeathed a substantial portion of his estate to Bethel College. The exact amount of the bequest is not yet known, but Hartzel Schmidt, director of business affairs at Bethel College, believes it may amount to $30,000.

Regier, who was unmarried, had lived in a one-room apartment of a hotel in Syracuse for many years and farmed extensively in western Kansas. Originally from the Moundridge community, he was a 1910 graduate of the Bethel Academy. Regier was an avid reader and a homespun philosopher, who was known also for his rich sense of humor.
