Wesley Regier

Wesley David Regier was the oldest son of Herbert O. Regier and Selma Schmidt Regier. He was born on March 7, 1932, in Harvey Co., Kansas, near Hesston.

During his short life he had to go through much sickness. Last year on Thanksgiving Day he had a very severe attack of influenza, but recovered again.

About the middle of January, 1936, he was very sick from a strange liver disease, which was diagnosed as an after-effect of the influenza. Then in August ulcers broke out here and there on his body which did not heal. the doctor termed the disease as tuberculous peritonitis and tuberculous ulceration of the skin.

He was severely ill on Sunday, November 22, and on Monday till he passed away. He died Monday, November 23, 1936, at 10:30 A.M. at the age of 4 years, 8 months and 16 days.

At times he suffered severe pain but he was very quiet and did not complain much. He brought much joy into our home during his short life. Now he is at home with the Lord who said: "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for theirs is the Kingdom of God."

He leaves to mourn his early departure: The bereaved parents, a little sister and a little brother; his grandparents and one grandmother and many other relatives and friends.

"Jesus has taken a beautiful bud,
Out of the Garden of Love,
Borne it away to the city of God
Home of the angels above."

— The Bereaved Parents

The funeral services took place in the Alexanderwohl church on Nov. 27, 1936, at 10:15 A.M. Words of comfort were spoken by Rev. J. H. Epp from Hillsboro in the English language on John 14, 6, and Rev. P. H. Unruh in German. His text was Luke 18: 15, 16, 17. A ladies quartet sang several songs. Also the school children of his school sang a song. Six little boys, cousins of Wesley, were the coffin bearers.

Our sympathy goes out to the bereaved family.
