MRS. JOHN D. REGIER

Mrs. Martha Unrau Regier was born Oct. 5, 1888, in Marion County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Peter S. and Maria Voth Unrau. She received her elementary training in the Antioch and Maple Grove schools.

She was baptized upon confession of faith in her Redeemer Jesus Christ on May 19, 1907, by Rev. Peter Balzer and admitted into membership of the Alexanderwohl church whose faithful member she remained until her death.

She was united in marriage to John D. Regier on July 27, 1913, by Rev. C. C. Wedel. After the marriage the parents made their home seven miles east and two miles north of Moundridge. They were able to enjoy a happy married life together for over 42 years. They had the privilege to observe their silver wedding anniversary in 1938. To this union were born two daughters and three sons. (Two sons, Carl at the age of four years and Irwin at the age of 25, preceded their mother in death.)

Some of the outstanding virtues in the life of the departed mother were her trust and faith in God as well as her patience manifested in the hours of trial. When Irwin became a helpless and invalid child she nursed him for 25 years, with never a word of discouragement and complaint, placing her faith in the promises of God who said, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivered him out of all." Ps. 34:19.

Frequently her health also failed and had to submit to a number of surgical operations, but the Lord granted her recovery. However on Dec. 2, 1955, she became critically ill again and was taken to the Mercy hospital in Moundridge, Kan. where all possible medical care was given her. However she passed to her heavenly home the afternoon of Dec. 10, 1955, reaching the age of 67 years, two months and five days.

She leaves to mourn her death her deeply bereaved husband, John D. Regier of Moundridge, Kan.; her children, Hilda, Mrs. Arthur Franz and family of Canton, Kan., Verna, Mrs. Gilmer Krehbiel and family of McPherson, Kan., Millard and wife Julia of Moundridge; four grandchildren (one preceded her in eath [sic], brothers and sisters, P. V. Unrau of Inola, Okla., Dave Unrau of Inman, Kan., William H. Unrau of Moundridge, Mary (Mrs. J. P. Franz) of Goessel, Agatha (Mrs. H. A. Reimer) of Canton, and Margaret (Mrs. Ferd Schroeder) of Canton (one sister, Selma, preceded her in death); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herbert and wife Selma of Hillsboro, Paul and wife Elsie, Moundridge, Anna, Mrs. Jake Heidebrecht of Newton, Bertha, Mrs. C. D. Epp of North Newton, Pauline, Mrs. Will Lehrman of Newton; and many other relatives and friends.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away" Rev. 21:4.

Funeral services were conducted in the Alexanderwohl church Dec. 14, 1955, in charge of Rev. P. A. Wedel, assisted by Rev. H. T. Unruh of North Newton.
