• Mrs. Henry L. Regier, 69, of rural Buhler died July 31 at the Bethesda Hospital in Goessel where she had been a patient since February 1963. A brief service was held Tuesday forenoon at the Miller Funeral Home in Goessel, followed by services in the afternoon at the Burrton Mennonite Church with Rev. James Gingerich in charge. Mrs. Regier, the former Lizzie Ratzlaff, leaves her husband, three sons, one daughter, five sisters and 15 grandchildren.

LIZZIE RATZLAFF REGIER

Lizzie Ratzlaff Regier, daughter of Ben P. and Anna Flickner Ratzlaff, was born March 3, 1895 in McPherson County, Kan. and died July 31, 1965 at the Bethesda Hospital in Goessel, Kan., age 69 years, four months and 28 days. She suffered a light stroke 15 years prior to her death. She was a patient in the Halstead Hospital five weeks prior to being admitted to the Bethesda Hospital where she had been a patient since Feb. 2, 1964.

In her youth she was baptized by Rev. Chris Goering and united with the Eden Mennonite Church of Moundridge, Kan. Prior to her marriage she transferred her membership to the Hebron Mennonite Church of Buhler and later on June 29, 1941 transferred to the Burrton (Kan.) Mennonite Church.

On Sept. 16, 1923, she was united in marriage to Henry L. Regier of Burrton. To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter. They are Elmer of Newton, Milford of Liberal, Mrs. Dorothy Karst of Russel, and Henry Vernon of Liberal.

In addition to her husband and four children, she leaves to mourn 15 grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. J. J. Kaufman of Newton, Mrs. J. J. Strauss of Moundridge, and Mrs. H. H. Siemens, Lyda [sic Lydia] and Ida Ratzlaff, all of Buhler and a host of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete and Henry; two sisters, her twin sister, Lena, and Mary; and two brothers-in-law, J. J. Kaufman and J. J. Strauss. In addition to her relatives she leaves many personal friends. She was a kind mother always concerned about her family and willing to sacrifice for their welfare. The last 17 months have been difficult for the family since they could not speak to her during that time.

Funeral services were held at the Burrton Mennonite Church on Aug. 3 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. James Gingerich officiating. Interment was in the Hebron Church Cemetery near Buhler, Kan.
