— Miss Mary Regier and B. C Regier left by train Sunday morning for Long Beach, Calif. to attend funeral services for their brother, John P. Regier, 68, who died suddenly on April 13. Rev. Alfred Regier of the Immanuel Mennonite church, Los Angeles was to officiate at services at the Long Beach chapel. Mr. Regier farmed east of Newton for a number of years, and the family moved to California in 1944. He leaves his wife, Elizabeth, seven children, and brothers and sisters as follows: Mrs. H. J. Wiebe of Whitewater, Mrs. H. R. Regier of Elbing, Mary and Helen Regier of Newton, Gustav E. of Marthasville, Mo. and B. C. Regier of Newton.

JOHN P. REGIER

John P. Regier was born in Harvey county, Kansas, on Sept 16, 1882. As a young man he was baptized and became a member of the First Mennonite church of Newton, Kansas, and remained a member of that church until his death.

He was married January 16, 19-16, to Elizabeth Richert and moved to a farm east of Newton, where he was engaged in farming for a number of years. The family moved to Long Beach in 1944. He was employed at Buffum’s department store of Long Beach, and it was while returning from work, on the bus, that he was stricken by a heart attack and passed away April 13, 1951, at the age of 68 years.

His wife and the following children survive: Elizabeth of Hamburg, New York, Mrs M. H. Hickey (Dorothy) of Oologah, Okla., Paul of Newton, Kans., Carl of Claremont, Calif., Richard of Everson, Washington, Kenneth and Esthermae of Long Beach. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kenneth Wayne Regier, Diane Regier, Carol and David Hickey; and four sisters and two brothers, who reside in the East.

After funeral services at Spongberg Chapel, on Tuesday, April 17, 1951, he was tenderly laid to rest at Sunnyside Memorial Park in Long Beach.
