— Funeral services were conducted at the Alexanderwohl church near Goessel Monday afternoon for John D. Regier, 73, who died April 15 at the Bethesda hospital in Goessel. Rev. John Thiessen officiated. A retired farmer and long-time resident of Route 2, Moundridge, Mr. Regier had resided at the Bethesda Home in Goessel for the past two years. He is survived by one son, Willard, of Route 2, Moundridge; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Franz of Route 2, Canton, and Mrs. Gilmer Krehbiel of Route 2, McPherson; two brothers, Paul and H. O. Regier of Goessel; three sisters, Mrs. J. A. Heidebrecht and Mrs. W. V. Lehrman of Newton, and Mrs. C. D. Epp of North Newton; and six grandchildren.

JOHN D. REGIER

John D. Regier was born on 1886, on a farm near Moundridge, Kansas. He was the eldest son of David J. and Katherina Unruh Regier. He received his elementary education in the South Bloomfield school and in the parochial school under Rev. Peter Balzer. He attended Bethel college after which he taught school for a year and then went back to farming.

He was baptized upon confession of faith in his Redeemer Jesus Christ on May 19, 1907, by Rev. Peter Balzer and admitted into the membership of the Alexanderwohl church whose faithful member he remained until his death.

He was united in marriage to Martha Unrau on July 27, 1913, by Rev. C. C. Wedel. After their marriage the parents made their home on the parental farm east of Moundridge. They were permitted to share life's joys and sorrows for over 42 years. They had the privilege to observe their silver wedding anniversary in 1938. To this union were born two daughters and three sons. Two sons, Carl at the age of four years and Irwin at the age of 25, preceded him in death.

Father was an active member in the church, serving in various capacities in the church, as Sunday school superintendent, teacher, and in various committees. He was also interested in education and served on the school board for many years.

Mother passed away on Dec. 10, 1955. Since father was in failing health this left him very lonely and helpless. With the help of the children, he continued to live in his home for two years. In January 1958 he entered the Bethesda Home for the Aged, where he received loving care.

He had been in failing health for many years due to Parkinson's disease. He bore his suffering quietly and patiently putting his trust in his Heavenly Father. Due to his affliction he spent many lonely hours, and greatly appreciated visits from his children, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

He became seriously ill on April 8 and entered the hospital where all possible medical care was given him. However, he passed to his heavenly home on the morning of April 15, 1960, having reached the age of 73 years, four months, and 24 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing three children, Hilda, Mrs. Arthur Franz and husband of Canton, Verna, Mrs. Gilmer Krehbiel and husband of McPherson, Willard and wife Julia of Moundridge, and six grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Anna, Mrs. J. A. Heidebrecht, Bertha, Mrs. C. D. Epp, and Pauline, Mrs. W. V. Lehrman, all of Newton, and two brothers, Paul and wife Elsie, and Herbert and wife Selma of Goessel; four brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law, and many friends and relatives. — The Children.
