Jakob R. Regier, Sohn von Jakob u. Kath. Regier, ward am 15. Mai 1871 in Rudnerweide, Südrußland geboren und kam 1874 mit Eltern nach Harvey County, Kansas wo er aufwuchs und zur Schule ging. Am 13. August 1899 ward er auf den Glauben von Aelt. Bern. Buhler getauft und Glied der Hebron Gemeinde wo er treues Glied blieb. Am 27. Febr. 1903 heiratete er Maria Cornelson. Es wurden ihnen 6 Kinder geschenkt. Sieben Jahre lebten sie nahe Burrton, dann auf einer Farm nahe Moundridge. Der Heimgerufene war sonst meist gesund, doch Januar 1940 erlitt er einen Herzschlag und mußte 9 Wochen im Bethel Hospital sein; mußte auch seither vorsichtig sein, konnte aber etwas arbeiten. Am Tage vor seinem Tode besorgte er seine Arbeit und ging um die Post zu holen. Nachts ward er krank, am Morgen ward er nach dem Hospital gebracht und schon um 2 Uhr nachm. entschlief er am 12. Jan. 1946 im Alter von 74 J. 7 M. und 27 Tagen. Er hatte eine Ahnung vom Nahen des Todes, denn kurz vor seinem Scheiden sagte er von seinem jüngsten Großkind: “Er ist in die Welt gekommen und ich gehe aus ihr hinaus.” Er hinterläßt seine trauernde Gattin, 4 Söhne: Arthur, Edward, Carl und Reuben; 2 Töchter: Anna und Grace; 2 Schwiegersöhne, 2 Schwiegertöchter, 6 Enkel, 2 Brüder: Abraham und Johann; 5 Schwestern; Frau Peter Lohrentz, Frau Abr. Siemens, Frau Cornelius Franz und Frl. Sarah und Frl. Maria dazu viele Freunde.

— Jacob R. Regier of Moundridge died at the Bethel Deaconess hospital here at 2:10 on Saturday, January 12, at the age of 74 years. Mr. Regier was a member of the Hebron Mennonite church. He is survived by his wife, four sons, Arthur C., Hesston; Ed. C., and Reuben, Moundridge; and Carl of Sedgwick; two daughter, Anna Holtzricher, Buhler; and Mrs. Grace Goering Moundridge; and the following brothers and sisters: A. R. Regier, Hesston; John R. Regier, Moundridge; Mrs. Peter Lohrenz, Moundridge; Mrs. Abraham Siemens, Mrs. Cornelius Franz, Sarah Regier and Mary Regier, all of Buhler.

JACOB R. REGIER

Jacob R. Regier, son of Jacob and Katharina Regier, was born in Rudnerweide, South Russia, May 15, 1871. In 1875 he came to America with his parents and settled in Harvey county, Kansas. Here he was reared and received his education. Bro. Regier spent the rest of his earthly life in this part of Kansas.

On August 13, 1899, he was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour by Rev. Bernhard Buhler and received into the membership of the Hebron congregation, where he remained a faithful member until his death.

He was united in marriage to Mary Cornelson on February 27, 1903. To this union six children were born. For more than 43 years they were permitted to share the joys and sorrows of life together.

The first seven years of their married life were spent near Burrton, Kansas, while the remaining years were spent on a farm near Moundridge.

Mr. Regier has especially great joy in his grandchildren.

He had always been in good health until January, 1940, at which time he had a heart attack and spent nine weeks in the Bethel Hospital. He did, however, never completely recover, although he was able to do some work. On Friday he took care of his chores as usual and walked to the mail box. The following night he became ill and could not sleep. In the morning he seemed to get worse and an ambulance was called to take him to the Bethel Hospital. Upon his arrival the doctor had no hope for his recovery. He quietly passed away at 2:00 P. M. Saturday, January 12, 1946, at the age of 74 years, seven months and 27 days.

One daughter-in-law and one grandchild preceded him in death.

Bro. Regier enjoyed visiting others, especially those who were sick or shut-in.

Mr. Regier evidently expected to pass away, for shortly before his death he remarked about his youngest grandchild, "he has come into the world and I will leave this world."

He leaves to mourn his departure: His wife, Mrs. Mary Regier; four sons, Arthur C. and Edward C. of Moundridge; Carl C. of Sedgwick and Reuben of Moundridge; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Holrichter, Buhler, and Mrs. Grace Goering, Moundridge; two sons-in-law, Jacob Holzrichter, Buhler, and John Goering, Moundridge; three daughters-in-law, Mrs. Edward C. Regier, Mrs. Carl C. Reiger and Mrs. Reuben Regier, also six grandchildren; two brothers, A. R. Regier, Hesston, and John R. Regier of Moundridge; five sisters, Mrs. Peter Lohrentz, Moundridge, Mrs. Abr. Siemens, Buhler, Mrs. Cornelius Franz, Buhler, and the Misses Sarah and Marie Regier of Buhler, and many other relatives and friends.
