AGED MOUNTAIN LAKE CITIZEN COMES TO A SUDDEN END

Mt. Lake, minn., March 14. — J. J. Regier who has been failing for some time, died suddenly last Friday afternoon, at his home in the city. Funeral services were held from the Valley Church on Tuesday afternoon, in the midst of a large number of friends and relatives. The Rev. D. P. Eitzen, T. J. Dick, J. N. Wall and N. N. Hiebert, spoke at the services and special music was furnished by the choir and a male quartet. Internment [sic interment] was in the local cemetery.

The deceased was first taken with a weak heart in February of last year. In mid summer his condition became more serious and during December an attack of the flu added complications. After that, he was confined to his house during a great share of the time. On Friday, while his daughter Anna was out of the house, he suddenly collapsed and the body was lifeless, when his daughter entered the room. Death came, no doubt, from heart failure.

The deceased was born in the village of Rudnerweide, South Russia, on September 23, 1856. He spent his first 19 years in Russia, where he attended various schools, and came to this country with his parents in 1875, settling on a farm southeast of Mountain Lake.

He was married in 1882, and seven children were born to the happey [sic] union. The oldest son, John, preceded him in death in 1919. The mother preceded him in 1923, also through a sudden death. Mr. and Mrs. Regier settled on a farm six miles northeast of Mountain Lake, where they spent forty years together. The farm is at present occupied by the youngest son, Jacob. During the last several years of his life he lived with his daughters here in the village.

He leaves to mourn his death three sons and three daughters, four daughters-in-law, sixteen grand children, one brother, who lives in California and many other relatives and friends.

Among those who came for the funeral were the following: A. J. Regier, of Newton, Kansas, his son; Mrs. Peter Epp, Mrs. Gerh. Rempel and Mrs. John Reier, all of Nebraska.
