text of obituary:
Helena Regier, nee Voth, was born in Reno county, Kansas, May 10, 1876, daughter of Johann Voth and Helena Nachtigal. She spent the days and years of her childhood in the home of her parents and received her education in an elementary school close to her home and later in a parochial school, also not far from her home. From her parents she received a Christian training and after reaching the age of accountability found the need of a personal Savior and was then upon confession of her faith in Christ as her Savior baptized by Rev. Dietrich Gaeddert on July 8, 1894, and received as a member into the Hoffnungsau church. She remained a faithful member of the same unto the day of her departure from this life.
On February 27, 1897, she was united in marriage to her now bereaved husband, Henry H. Regier. In this union they were permitted to share together the joys and hardships for 45 years, less 1 month and 14 days. She has sometimes hoped to reach the day when they would be married for 45 years and then to have a day of special Thanksgiving to their Lord for blessings bestowed.
But God in his infinite wisdom thought best to take her to her eternal reward before that day came. This union was blessed with nine children, who were all permitted to be present as she was laid to rest. She was a true wife and a loving and caring mother to her children. This her love, care and faithfulness will live though she is gone from us. Though our teardrops flow we rejoice for her eternal rest after a long life full of joys and sorrows.
In January, 1938, she underwent an operation in the Bethesda Hospital which also was successful, but she was never able to fully regain her strength. In the fall of this year she began to suffer from rheumatic troubles and later dropsy set in. Sometimes she was unable to lie in her bed and had to be in her chair day and night. This made it very hard for her. The last five days she was very ill, but remained steadfast in her faith and on Monday, January 13, at 5:30 she quietly passed away to be with her Savior whom she loved and for whom she lived. So good-night dear mother till we meet again.
She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Henry H. Regier, three daughters and their husbands: Helena, Mrs. Theodore Warkentin of Burrton; Sara, Mrs. John K. Ratzlaff of Buhler; and Marie, Mrs. Arnold Kim of Moundridge; six sons and their wives: John of Burrton; Henry of Buhler; Jacob of Moundridge; Edward and Arthur of Inman; and Albert of the home; 13 grandchildren; 3 have preceded her in death: 1 sister and 6 brothers. Two brothers have preceded her in death.
She reached the age of 64 years, 3 months and 3 days.
Oh Mother dear;
Thy day has come, not gone;
Thy sun has risen, not set;
Thy life is now beyond
The reach of death and change,
Not ended— but begun,
O Mother dear; O, gentle heart!
Farewell, farewell.
