— G. W. Regier and daughter, Mrs. Edgar Busenitz of Whitewater were called to California recently due to the serious illness of their son and brother, Elmer G. Regier of Paso Robles. However he died before their arrival, having submitted to an operation in which it was discovered that he was suffering from a ruptured tumor on the brain. Funeral services were held March 26 at the First Mennonite Church of Paso Robles, Rev. M. J. Galle officiating. Mr. Regier, who was 36, is survived by his wife, Lillian, and two sons, Lloyd 9 and Glen 6; his father and stepmother of Whitewater; and four sisters.

ELMER G. REGIER

Elmer G. Regier, son of Gustav and Elise Regier, was born at Slater, Wyoming on July 12, 1919. With his parents he moved to Kansas in 1935, and he came to California in 1940. A sister Ella passed away Dec. 17, 1936, and, and his mother in 1947.

Elmer was a veteran of World War II. In his service he was in North Africa, India, and the Tinian Islands, receiving an honorable discharge Nov. 19, 1945.

He married Lillian Regier [sic Hirschler] Nov. 30, 1941,and they made their home in Paso Robles. Two sons were born to them. Lloyd and glen. Elmer was a member of the American legion, Almond City flying Club, and the Paso Robles Radio Club. In 1946 he united with the First eMnnonite [sic Mennonite] Church of Paso Robles, and was a faithful and active member. He served as Sunday school supt., as a teacher in Sunday School, and at the time of his passing was the secretary of the church.

Due to severe pains in the head, a local physician finally advised that he be taken to Santa Barbara where he entered Cottage hospital. Following a brief time of observation, he submitted to an operation Tuesday, March 20, when a ruptured tumor was discovered. he passed away Thursday, march 22, at 3:00 P. M. He attained the age of 36 years, eight months, 10 days.

Elmer was a great lover of music and was a member of a local male quartet. He especially enjoyed organ music and purchased an organ for his home.

He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, Lillian Regier, and his two sons, Lloyd age 9and glen age 6, all of the home; his father, Gustav W. Regier and a step mother at Whitewater, Kansas, four sisters, Mrs. Elma Busenitz of Whitewater, Kansas; Mrs. Viola Klingenberg of Peabody, Kansas, Mrs. Verna Kehn of Fairview, Okla.; Mrs. Marie Harms of Cordell, Okla.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the First Mennonite church at Paso Robles Monday, March26, his pastor Rev. M. J. Galle officiating. An over-crowded church with many standing outside witnessed to his service and love for others.
