— Mrs. Eliz. Regier of Burrton died at the Bethel Deaconess hospital on Friday, May 31. Funeral services were held at the Burrton Mennonite church on Tuesday afternoon, with the pastor, Rev. A. A. Epp, officiating.

MRS. ELIZABETH REGIER

Elizabeth Kliewer Regier, daughter of John and Maria Janzen Kliewer, was born October 6, 1869, in the Ukraine, South Russia. The first five years of her life were spent there, and she was too young to remember much of that early home when, in 1874, her parents with many others of that migration brought her with the other brothers and sisters to America, settling in Reno county, Kansas.

December 5, 1886, at the age of seventeen, she was baptized upon the confession of her faith by Elder Dietrich Gaeddert. Throughout her lifetime she was a faithful member of the Mennonite church.

She was united in marriage to Abraham J. Regier on March 21, 1890. To this union three sons were born. For 23 years they were permitted to share the joys and sorrows of life together. Hers was not a life untouched by sorrow. On May 20, 1914, her husband was called to his heavenly reward and on Nov. 22, 1941, her son Edward preceded her in death.

She was ever concerned that her children might walk in way of the Lord, and had great joy especially in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her health had been failing for several years due to diabetes. At different times it became necessary to take her to the hospital for medical care. Her condition became worse, and she was again taken to the Bethel Hospital at Newton, Kansas, on May 23. On the morning of May 31 she was called to her heavenly home.

"Where no slightest touch of pain,
     Nor sorrow's least annoy,
Can violate her rest,
     Or stain her purity of joy.
Where all her griefs are passed,
     Where all her sorrows end,
She gained a peaceful rest at last
     With Jesus Christ, our Friend."

She leaves to mourn her departure two sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Regier, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Regier, and one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ed. F. Regier, all of Burrton, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She reached the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 25 days.

The pains of death are past,
Labour and sorrow cease,
And life's long warfare closed at last,
Thy soul is found in peace.

Funeral services were held in the Burrton Mennonite church, of which church she was a member, on June 4 at 2:30 p. m., with the pastor, Rev. Arnold A. Epp, officiating. A ladies' trio supplied the music both at the church and at the grave.
