— Dan C. Regier, 57, of Moundridge died Sunday morning at the McPherson hospital and funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Hoffnungsau church near Inman. Mr. Regier was a brother of Rev. P. K. Regier of Newton, and also leaves his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Dan Nachtigal of Moundridge and Mrs. Wayne Jantz of Newton. A niece, Mrs. Curtis Wiens, also resides in Newton.

D. C. REGIER

D. C. Regier, son of John K. and Anna Unruh Regier, was born near Moundridge, Kansas October 13, 1893. He grew to young manhood in the parental home, which he retained when establishing a home of his own after his parents retired to the town of Buhler.

He received his education in the O. K. public school, the Hoffnungsau preparatory school, and Bethel College academy. On June 15, 1913, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith by the Elder Abraham Ratzlaff, and received into the membership of the Hoffnungsau Mennonite church, of which he remained an active member until the time of his departure.

On September 16, 1917, he was united in marriage with Marie Enns. This home was blessed in that two daughters were born to them. In 1942 they had the privilege of celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. The Lord gave them the further grace that they could share life’s joys and sorrows for thirty-three and one half years.

In his church he took an active part, serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years. The week day Bible study and prayer meeting was a source of deep satisfaction to him which caused him to be regular in attendance. In former years he was also a member of the men’s chorus and was interested in beautifying the worship service with praises and song. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and took great delight in his two grandchildren.

Shortly after Christmas he suspected the malady which impaired his health. Accompanied by his wife and brother-in-law, D. A. Enns, and later by his daughters, he went to the Mayo Clinic at Rochester, but they dismissed him unable to render any help. Having returned from Minnesota his health rapidly failed. Upon his sick-bed he gained the victory to the point that he could glory in his suffering and was deeply concerned to bear witness of the love of his Saviour and His power of salvation.

Early at dawn on Easter morning, March 25, 1951, he answered the summons to be with his Lord in the power of the resurrection and the redemption of the Cross. He reached the age of 57 year, five months, and 12 days.

Those who now mourn his departure are his wife Marie, two daughters, Marjorie and her husband Dan E. Nachtigal of Moundridge, and Anne Marie and her husband Wayne Jantz of Newton, two grandchildren, Diane Rene and Suzanne Marie; one brother P. K. and his wife Marie; three sisters, Sara and her husband P. H. Voth, Agatha and her husband J. B. Ediger and Helen and her husband Nick D. Esau; a sister-in-law, Mrs. J. U. Regier, and many other relatives and friends.
