CORNELIUS R. REGIER
Cornelius R. Regier, son of Rev. Cornelius H. and Anna (Regier) Regier, was born March 27, 1878, near Marienburg, West Prussia. He departed this life on December 7, 1945, at the age of 67 years, eight months and 10 days.
At the age of two years he with his parents came over from the Old Country to live in Kansas. Here he received his elementary schooling and also was privileged to take a short college course.
On May 30l, 1898, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith and received into the fellowship of the Zion Mennonite church at Elbing.
He was united in marriage to Margaret Epp on October 1, 1922, at Minneola, Kansas, to this blessed union four children were born, Mildred, Otto, Menno and Howard, all of the home.
During his life he often experienced afflictions, sorrows, trials and temptations, but he constantly found comfort, hope, faith and courage in reading God's Word, which he dearly loved.
The morning of December 7, he became very ill, having not felt well for about a week. He believed, as so often, that this might be his last day. He was taken to the hospital where on the same day, at 10 P. M., he passed away in the hope that we will meet him again in Glory, where there shall be no parting, pain, sorrow or sin. We are thankful for what the Lord has done for us, and he who promised not to leave us alone nor forsake us, gives us strength and courage to go on with Him.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 11. Brief services were held at the home at 1:15 P. M., where Rev. J. E. Entz was in charge. these were followed by services at the Zion Mennonite church, with Rev. H. J. Dyck and Rev. A. A. Schmidt in charge. Rev. J. E. Entz had charge of the graveside services.
A male quartet composed of John P. Janzen, Paul Regier, Willard Regier and William Regier, sang "Beautiful Land", "Nearer My God To Thee" at the church and "Aleep [sic] In Jesus" at the graveside.
Pall bearers were Albert and Oscar Entz, Albert Busenitz, John S. Harder, John Epp and Jake Wiebe.
Burial was made in the Zion Mennonite cemetery with Smith Mortuary in charge.
