text of obituary:
CLARA REGIER
Clara Regier, daughter of Gustav and Anna (Eymann) Regier, was born in Kewanee, Ill. on Nov. 18, 1876.
At an early age she moved with her parents, two sisters and two brothers to Burlington, Iowa, where she began her elementary education. In 1890 she and her mother moved to Moundridge, Kan., her father having passed away several years previously. Here she completed her formal education.
In Moundridge she was employed as a clerk in the Star Mercantile Company for 24 years. In 1921 she moved with her mother to Reedley, Calif.
Upon her confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour she was received into the membership of the First Mennonite Church, of which she remained a faithful member until her death.
While living in Kansas she made the acquaintance of Mary Haury, who because of like interests, became her lifelong friend. Miss Haury had also moved to Reedley with her aged father in 1921.
Upon the passing or each of their parents, the two friends made their home together at 1131 L Street from 1930 until the latter part of May, 1965, when it became necessary for Miss Regier to enter a convalescent home. She lived here for slightly over two months, where she quietly passed away on Thursday, July 29, having attained the age of 88 and one-half years.
She was the last remaining member of her family, her sister and brother having preceded her in death.
In addition to Miss Haury, she is survived by her cousins. Mrs. E. A. Dettweiler and A. D. Ruth of Reedley; Mrs. Edna Harms of Upland, Calif., and Mrs. Barbara Haldeman of Santa Rosa, Calif. The late J. J. Eymann and A. C. Eymann were also her cousins.
