• Abe T. Regier, 79, a resident of the Buhler community most of his life, died at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson on March 15. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. Survivors include four daughters, three sons, a brother, T. T. Regier, and half-brother, C. C. Epp, both of Buhler, and 17 grandchildren.

A. T. Regier

Abraham T. Regier was born to A. A. and Elizabeth Toews Regier on a farm east of Buhler, Kansas on Dec. 31, 1882. Here he spent his early childhood and received his elementary education. In 1905 he, together with others, moved to Hooker, Okla. where he homesteaded a farm.

In 1908 father sensed his need for a Saviour and surrendered his life to Christ. On Jan. 8, 1908 he was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church of Hooker. Later he transferred his membership to the Krimmer Mennonite Brethrne Church at Hooker and from there to the Mennonite Brethren Church in Buhler, Kansas where he remained a faithful member till his death.

On August 27, 1908 father was united in holy marriage with Elizabeth Balzer by Rev. Abraham Cornelson. To this union were orn two sons and a daughter. After five years this union was severed with the home-going of mother. On July 10, 1913 father found a help-mate in Katie Fast and they were married at Hooker by Rev. K. D. Willems. To this union were born four daughters and one son. She passed away on Nov. 23, 1936.

Our parents resided near Hooker till 1914 when they moved to a farm southeast of Buhler, Kansas. Her father labored for many years. He served on the Lily Dale School Board for 21 years. He entered the Sunshine Home in Buhler in June 1959 and was a resident there at the time of his death. On March 7, 1962 he entered Grace Hospital, Hutchinson, Kansas and submitted to surgery on March 9, from which he never fully recovered. He quietly and peacefully fell asleep to be with His Lord on March 15, 1962.

Father was called to his heavenly home at the age of 79 years, two months and 15 days. Of his immediate family his two wives, Elizabeth Balzer Regier and Katie Fast Regier, one daughter in infancy and two grandchildren preceded him in death.

Surviving him are three sons and their wives, Herb and Anna Regier of Buhler, Henry and Eva Regier of San Jose, Calif., Wilbert and Lydia Regier, Buhler; four daughters and their husband, Elizabeth and Menno Penner of Wichita, Kansas, Bertha and Vernie Ensz of Inman, Kansas, Minnie and Waldo Siebert of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Irene and Emile Soyez of Cedar Point, Kansas; 17 grandchildren; one brother, P. T. Regier of Buhler, and one half-brother, D. C. Epp of Buhler. — The Bereaved Family.
