MRS. SUSAN REGEHR

Susan Entz Regehr was born May 5, 1873 in Marienburg, West Prussia, a province in Germany, to John and Anna Warkentin Entz.

When she was three years old she moved to south central Russia with her parents where they lived for many years on a farm near the Volga River. During the years there she was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite Church. Her mother died March 21, 1896.

In 1899, when Susan was 26 years old, she came to America to the home of her brother, John Entz, near Whitewater, Kansas.

On Feb. 8, 1903 she was married to Jacob Regehr in Newton, Kansas. With this marriage she became a step-mother to Jacob, Gerhard, Ida and Oscar Regehr, Mr. Regehr' s children by a previous marriage. A daughter, Helen, was born Feb. 22, 1904 while the family was living in Deerfield, Kansas. During this time Mrs. Regehr joined the Methodist Church.

The family next moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico where they lived until 1925. Then they moved to Norman, Okla. where Helen entered nurses training. Jacob Regehr died July 3, 1926 in Norman.

Mrs. Regehr lived with her daughter Helen in Denver, Colo. and later in Leadville, Ohio, until Helen's death June 8, 1947.

In August of the same year, Mrs. Regehr came to Oklahoma where she had since lived with her nieces and nephews.

Since 1952 she had been in poor health and had lived with her nephew and his wife, John and Elsie Entz. in the latter part of February she contracted pneumonia and died March 2 at the age of 86 years, nine months and 25 days.

Relatives are two step-sons, Jacob Regehr of North Carolina and Oscar Regehr of Stockton, Calif.; nieces and nephews, grandchildren and many relatives and friends to whom she was known affectionately as ”Aunt Susie”.
