MRS. ALVIN REGEHR
Mrs.Alvin Regehr, nee Minnie Klassen, youngest daughter of Henry and Eva Klassen, was born May 26, 1913, at Buhler, Kan.
She received her elementary training in the O. K. public school located east of Buhler. Later she attended Buhler High School from where she was graduated in the spring of 1933.
She took Catechism instruction under Rev.A. J. Dyck and was baptized on June 8, 1930 upon her confession of faith in her Saviour, and became a member of the Hoffnungsau Church.
The departed was united in marriage with Alvin Regehr on May 9, 1937. To this union was born one daughter, Geraldine. They shared life's joys and sorrows for a little over 24 years.
Mrs. Regehr transferred her church membership on Oct. 18, 1942 from Hoffnungsau Church to the Bethel Church, whose faithful member she remained until her death.
At first Mr. Regehr followed the carpenter trade rebuilding farms under the auspices of the Equitable Insurance Co. Mrs. Regehr shared with her husband in this work, helping to furnish meals for laborers employed. Later they moved to a farm near Inman, Kan. However, in the last number of years they again followed construction work, moving to their present home in Hutchinson.
Mrs. Regehr was a faithful Christian mother and a sincere Life's companion. She enjoyed good health all her life up to 1958 when a sudden illness overtook her.
In October 1959 she was taken to the Halstead Hospital where tests proved that she had lung cancer. Surgery was performed on Nov. 3, 1959. She was continually under doctors' care.
She prayed much that the Lord would permit her to be present at the baptism services of her daughter Geraldine, which took place May 21, 1961. This privilege was granted her and it was also the last time she attended her church which she so dearly loved.
Her life was radiant with Christian faith and hope. She bore her suffering very patiently. She loved her Lord and prayed much for her loved ones and the church.
The Lord took her to himself on Sunday morning at 9:45, July 9, at the Halstead Hospital. She reached the age of 48 years, one month and 14 days.
Those who mourn her death are her husband, Alvin Regehr, and daughter Geraldine of Hutchinson; one sister, Kathryn Klassen of Buhler, one brother, John Klassen and his wife Thelma, also of Buhler; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. A. Regehr of Inman, two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, three nieces, four nephews, and many other close relatives and friends. Her parents and one infant sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held on July 12 at the Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, Kan. Interment was made at the North Inman Cemetery. The church pastor, Rev. P. A. Wedel, officiated at the funeral services. He was assisted by Rev. P. T. Neufeld.
