LEAVES SIXTY-SEVEN DESCENDANTS

Orrville, Ohio. — Mrs. Sarah Schumacher Reeser passed away June 28 at the home of her son, Homer Schumacher of near Dalton. She was 90 years of age. Surviving are five children, 29 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Kidron Mennonite church on July 3, Reuben Hofstetter officiating.

MRS. SARAH REESER

Sarah, daughter of Christian and Anna Boogli Welty, was born on a farm near Kidron, Ohio on Feb. 3, 1862, died June 21, 1952 at the home of her son Homer Schumacher near Stanwood, Ohio at the age of 90 years, four months and 25 days. She had been in ill health since November 1950 and also lost her eyesight, being almost totally blind at the time of her death.

On April 11, 1879, she was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Mennonite church, to which faith she remained loyal until her death. She was of a friendly and cheerful disposition and thus won many friends.

On May 4, 1882, she was united in marriage to Adam Schumacher of Bluffton, Ohio. Nine children were born to this union. The family lived on a farm near the Silver Hill school for many years. Later they sold the farm, retired from active work, and lived for a number of years with their daughter, Susie, Mrs. Earl Gerber. At this home her husband died Sept. 26, 1931.

Two sons, John and Henry, had moved to Oregon and she had visited there frequently. On Dec. 19, 1938, she was married to Jacob Reeser in Oregon, where she made her home until the death of Mr. Reeser in 1941.

She leaves to mourn her departure three sons and two daughters, John and Henry of Canby, Oregon, Homer of Stanwood, Ohio, Mrs. Lydia Ann Zimmerly of Canton, and Mrs. Earl Gerber of Dalton. (Two daughters and two sons preceded her in death.) Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 1 at the home of her son, Homer, and at the Kidron church, in charge of Reuben Hofstetter, Allen Bixler and Isaac Zuercher. Burial was made at the Sonnenberg cemetery where her husband, two daughters and one son were buried.
