ANNA REDEKOP
Anna Rose Redekop of Herbert, Sask. passed away July 8. She was born Aug. 1, 1901 to William J. and Helena Janzen Bestvater in Mountain Lake, MN. She spent the first 12 years of her life in various locations in South Dakota and Minnesota, then moved to Winnipeg, where her father pastored a missions church. She received Christ at 14, and was baptized into the MB Church. She assisted her father in the mission. After graduating from St. John's Technical Institute, she became a teacher in Swan River, Man. In 1921 she attended Regina Normal School and became a teacher in the Gnadenau, Sask. school district. She married Benjamin F. Redekop Oct. 20, 1922 and they moved to Herbert, Sask. She taught Sunday school and Bible studies. For 27 years she was a member of the Gideons. She took an active part in community activities. She went to seminary in her early eighties, and retained a continuous passion for travel. She is remembered for her support of her family in their involvements. Predeceased by her husband and one sister, she is mourned by children Bill of Herbert, Wally of Ottawa, Ruth Sapinsky of Herbert, Lois Dyck of Brandon, Man., and Helen Dueck of Cochabamba, Bolivia; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and 1 sister. The funeral was July 11, 1991 in Herbert MB Church, with Gene White ministering.
