Indian American Youth Fatally Injured

Fairview, Okla. — William Red Cherries, 16-year-old Indian American youth of Canton, was fatally injured while walking on a county road east of Canton early Saturday morning, Aug 29.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that the youth was struck by an unknown vehicle and was dragged about 50 feet.

Survivors include his parents, Ruby Red Cherries of Canton and Miller Red Cherries of Kingfisher, and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Sankey of Canton.

The funeral was conducted Monday afternoon, Aug. 31, at the Mennonite Indian Church south of Canton.
