Deacon of Iowa Church Dies
Kalona, Iowa. — George Reber, 78, of Iowa City died suddenly Feb. 25 from a heart attack. He was an employee of the Louis Drug Store and had worked there until noon on the day of his death.
Mr. Reber was a deacon in the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church near Kalona, where the funeral was held on Feb. 28.
Mr. Reber was married to the former Sarah Kreider, who survives. They lived for a few years in La Junta, Colo., but resided in the Wellman-Kalona area for 30 years, moving to Iowa City in 1939.
Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ora Marner; three sons, Virgil of Idaho, Walter of Denver, and William of California; and two brothers, Joe of Shelbyville, Ill. and Noah of Milford, Neb., all of whom attended the funeral.
