ONE DRIVER KILLED, THE OTHER INJURED IN CRASH NEAR HENDERSON

Henderson, Neb. — Funeral services for Peter M. Ratzlaff, 68-year-old farmer who was fatally injured in a two-car collision, were held Monday afternoon at the Bethesda Mennonite Church, Rev. J. R. Duerksen officiating.

The car driven by Mr. Ratzlaff and one driven by Leo Regier, Henderson High School senior, collided at an intersection near here June 25. Both were brought to the Henderson hospital where Mr. Ratzlaff died several hours later. The Regier youth had multiple bruises and suffered from shock.

Mr. Ratzlaff leaves his wife Marie, three brothers and six sisters.

PETER M. RATZLAFF

Peter M. Ratzlaff, the son of Bernhard and Maria Huebert Ratzlaff, was born near Bradshaw, Neb. on March 2, 1890. He passed away in the Henderson Community hospital on June 25, 1958 at 10:00 o'clock in the evening from injuries suffered in a car collision. His age was 68 years, three months and 24 days.

Upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour and Lord he was baptized and received into the membership of Bethesda Mennonite Church of Henderson on May 23, 1915, and he always remained a faithful member.

On Oct. 11, 1916 he was married to Marie Penner with whom he shared the joys and the sorrows of life until the day of his death. He led a quiet and peaceful life. Not only was he willing to assist others when there was an opportunity but he always offered his help with joy. For this reason his neighbors loved him. His occupation was farming and carpentry. A special tribute given to him is that he was honest in all his relationships. In the home he was a good husband. he enjoyed doing things together with his wife. It is difficult to understand why he should be taken away so suddenly.

He is survived by his wife. Mrs. Marie Ratzlaff, three brothers and six sisters. the brothers are John of Henderson and Henry and David of Bradshaw. The sisters are Mrs. Agnes Beier, Mrs. H. H. Friesen, Mrs. Tina Rempel, and Mrs. Agatha Kliewer, all of Henderson, Mrs. Helena Klippenstein of Milford and Mrs. Kristena Peters of York. His parents and a brother Ben preceded him in death.

May the Lord comfort all who feel this bereavement and may we all take seriously the voice of God who speaks to us through the very sudden death of this dear brother. As for him, we trust that I Thess. 4:14 is his portion, “Them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”
