ABRAHAM T. RATZLAFF

Abraham T. Ratzlaff, son of Peter and Justina Ratzlaff, was born on July 17, 1889, in McPherson County, Kansas. Later his parents moved east of Buhler where he grew up and received his elementary education.

In the spring of 1915 he saw his lost condition and after considerable prayer and searching the scriptures, he received Christ as his savior and the forgiveness of sin. On May 23, 1915, he was baptized and became a member of the Zoar K. M. B. Church at Inman, Kan. Later he became a member of the Zion Church in Dinuba, Calif.

As long as his eye-sight permitted he spent considerable time reading. His immediate relatives meant much to him and he was ready to lend a hand when needs arose. Giving to missions was to him an obligation and a joy.

On Nov. 25, 1915, Abraham was united in marriage to Kathryn Willems, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Willems, at Inman, Kan. Rev. John Esau performed the ceremony. In spite of trials and adversities they had a happy marriage and shared joys and sorrows for over 52 years.

His occupation was that of contractor and builder along with carpentry. He farmed several years in Kansas and later in California. He was physically strong, a hard worker, and seldom sick. At retirement in 1966, he and his wife moved to Reedley, Calif. where he resided until his death came suddenly at 10:40 p.m. on July 9, 1968, due to a heart attack. He reached the age of 79 years less eight days.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Kathryn, a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and many more distant relatives and friends. — Mrs. Kathryn Ratzlaff.
