AMON B. RAMER

Amon B. Ramer, youngest son of Jacob and Elizabeth Brubaker Ramer, was born near Richfield, Penn. Oct. 24, 1881, and passed away suddenly from a heart attack at his home near Harper, Kansas on March 29, 1956, age 74 years, five months and five days. He grew to manhood near Port Treverton, Penn. uniting with the Susquehanna Mennonite Church in the spring of 1907.

On March 8, 1903, he was united in marriage to Kathryne Flanders, who preceded him in death July 11, 1912. to this union were born three children: Merlin, Kansas City, Mo.; Esther, Mrs. Irven Unruh, Harper; Titus, of Ennis, Mont.

On Sept. 27, 1914, he was united in marriage to Eva Shellenberger. To this union were born four children: Mildred, Mrs. Freddie Miller of Hutchinson, Kans.; Helen, Mrs. Wilmer Mast of York, Penn.; Elmer, of Harper; Florence, Mrs. Loren Gerber of Argonia, Kansas.

In 1916 he moved to Duchess, Alberta, which at that time was pioneer country. In 1932 he moved to Harper, Kansas, living there until his passing.

He was the youngest of seven children. He was preceded in death by brother Jacob in 1940, Samuel in 1944, one brother and twin sister who died in infancy, also one infant grandson.

He is survived by his companion, one brother Henry, a minister of Duchess, Alta., 20 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

His greatest concern was for the Church and the welfare of his children and grandchildren.

Funeral services at the home were in charge of R. M. Weaver, and were followed by services at the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church where Waldo E. Miller spoke on Psalm34:9. W. R. Nafziger read I Cor. 15:12-26 during the devotional period and also officiated at the committal service. Music was furnished by a mixed octet.
