MRS. REINHARD [sic RHINEHART] QUIRING

Corn, Okla. — Word was received here Monday morning, April 30, of the death of Mrs. Reinhard [sic Rhinehart] Quiring, age 24, on Sunday evening, April 29, in a hospital at Sacramento, Calif. Death followed a long illness as result of cancer.

Mrs. Quiring was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Ratzlaff of Corn. She was mother of two children, a son of five and a daughter one year old. Funeral services were conducted at the Mennonite Brethren church of Chico, Calif., Thursday, May 3.

Mrs. Quiring has been practically a life-long resident of the Corn community. Relatives and friends here met for memorial services for Mrs. Quiring at the Bergthal church also on Thursday afternoon, May 3. The services were conducted by Rev. Henry Hege and Rev. Menno Kliewer of the Sichar church.

Mrs. Leona Quiring, daughter of P. R. and Margaret (Vogt) Ratzlaff, was born March 20, 1921, on the parental farm one mile south of Corn. Here she spent her youth, attending the Corn district school and the Corn Bible School, where she graduated in May, 1938. On March 25, 1935, she was baptized upon her confession of faith in her Lord, our Saviour Jesus Christ, by Rev. John Baergen, and became a member of the Berthal church, which she remained till her death. On October 2, 1938, she entered the holy state of matrimony with Rheinhard [sic Rhinehart] Quirng. This union was blessed with two children, one boy and one girl.

In the fall of 1938 she moved with her husband to California, where they lived at several places. Though always in good health, an illness became apparent in the last few years, perhaps as a result of an auto accident in which she was hut. The last year she underwent two major operations which did not bring the expected relief.

About two months ago the doctors diagnosed her case as cancer. Though all possible medical aid was summoned and many earnest prayers were sent to the Throne of Grace, her condition became rapidly worse and on Sunday night, April 29, she passed into her heavenly home where God Himself will wipe away all tears from her eyes and where there is no more pain nor sorrow nor dying.

She reached an age of 24 years, 1 month and 9 days.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, Rheinhart [sic Rhinehart] Quiring, two children Edgar and Yvonne, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. r. Ratzlaff, two brothers, one sister, and one sister-in-law, besides a large circle of other relatives and friends.

She led an active life in church as well as in the home. Often her voice was heard singing the praises of the Lord she loved, in church and young people's meeting; she was also active in the sewing society. She was a loving, obedient child at home. An indisputable evidence that she was in love with her Lord is the fact that she dedicated the life of her young son to the service of her Lord and God.

We cannot understand why Leona had to leave us now, with her whole life before her. But we have faith that the God whom we love and serve makes no mistake. Someday we shall understand. We trust in our Lord who had conquered death and through his resurrection has given the hope of a great morning when Christ will come with all the Saints and we shall all meet, never to part again. — The Family.
