text of obituary:
HENRY C. QUIRING
Henry Quiring was born March 15, 1878, in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. He was nine years of age when his father died. This loss greatly affected his education and necessitated hard work away from home.
During his seventeenth year the Lord met him in the corn field and gave him the assurance of personal salvation. He was baptized by Rev. Heinrich Voth upon the confession of his faith and received into the fellowship of the Mennonite Brethren Church which has been a real spiritual home for him while he lived.
In 1899 he was married to Helena Buhler and soon after they moved to Saskatchewan to take up a homestead in the Hepburn district. Two daughters, Helen and Nettie were born to them. Tragedy struck and mother and infant daughter were called home to glory.
Father was comforted when on June 28, 1903 he was married to Mary Nickel, who immediately assumed the responsibility of wife and mother. Twelve children, seven sons and five daughters were entrusted to them. One son preceded them in death at the early age of four. Industry and thrift enabled them to provide for the material needs of a large and growing family.
Father loved his Lord, his church and his family and desired to live a useful life. His faithfulness in church attendance and his willingness to serve where opportunity for witnessing presented itself, have left a lasting influence on the family.
During the last eight years failing health made it necessary for him to submit to surgery and other medical treatment. Mother's death on June 28, 1964 (their sixty-first wedding anniversary) left him a lonely man and increased his desire to depart and be with the Lord.
On Wednesday, December 14, answered the call of his Maker and Redeemer and died peacefully at the age of 88 years in the home of his daughter Martha, who nursed him with loving care during the last five weeks of his earthly sojourn.
As a family we gratefully lay his body to rest awaiting his resurrection and a blessed reunion in the presence of Christ.
He leaves to mourn his departure his six sons, Henry, Peter, Jacob, Clarence, John and Lee; six daughters, Helen (Mrs. Ben Fast), Mary (Mrs. P. H. Thiessen), Nettie (Mrs. B. F. Lepp), Annie (Mrs. Ray McClure), Martha (Mrs. Ed. Friesen), and Esther (Mrs. George B. Dyck); the in-laws, 48 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. - The Family
