Eines schönen Sonntagmorgens, am Anfang der siebziger Jahre, sattelte ich im Dorfe Fischau, Rußland meinen Schimmel und ritt in der Richtung nach Blumstein. Mein Vater hatte sich vom Aeltesten Joh. Harder ein großes Märtyrerbuch geliehen. Ich band mir dasselbe im Sack auf den Rücken und wollte es zurückstatten. Als ich eintratt, sie wohnten ja an der westlichen Seite, wo mein Bruder Cornelius Ennsen auch mal gewohnt haben, kam er gerade von Ohrloff aus der Kirche heim [zum Himmel]. Seine Mutter war eine Elisabeth Plett, und meine Mutter war eine

Minna Plett. Sie waren Halbgeschwister; unser Großvater war Joh. Plett. Onkel Cor. Plett wohnte in Kleefeld auf der östlichen Seite, als wir ihn besuchten. Er starb hier bei Steinbach 1900, 80 Jahre alt. Unser Großvater Johann Plett ist in Preußen im Jahr 1765 geboren, wohl bei Danzig, und im Jahr 1833 in Blumstein Rußland gestorben. Die Großmutter [Esther Smit Plett] starb 1855 bei ihrer Tochter Karoline, Klaas Friesens [geb. Plett] in Rosenort Rußland, 76 Jahre alt….

Morris, Man., June 4, 1934.

One beautiful Sunday morning, at the beginning of the seventies, I saddled my white horse in the village of Fischau, Russia and rode in the direction of Blumstein. My father had borrowed a large book of martyrs from Elder Johann Harder. I tied the same in a sack on my back and wanted to return it. When I entered, they lived on the western side, where my brother Cornelius Enns and his family also once lived, he had just come home [to heaven] from the church in Ohrloff. His mother was Elisabeth Plett, and my mother was Minna Plett. They were half siblings; our grandfather was Johann Plett. Uncle Cornelius Plett lived in Kleefeld on the east side when we visited him. He died here near Steinbach in 1900, 80 years old. Our grandfather Johann Plett was born in Prussia in 1765, probably near Danzig, and died in 1833 in Blumstein Russia. Our grandmother [Esther Smit Plett] died in 1855 at the home of her daughter Karoline, the wife of Klaas Friesen [née Plett], in Rosenort, Russia, at 76 years of age….
