text of obituary:
MRS. S. J. PLANK
Ella Kauffman Plank, daughter of Solomon and Esther Yoder Kauffman, was born on Nov. 15, 1871, in Elkhart County, Ind.; died Dec. 5, 1961, at her home in West Liberty, Ohio, aged 90 years, 20 days.
On Oct. 11, 1886, she was married to Samuel J. Plank and this union continued for over 54 years until his death in 1951. They began their married life at East Lynne, Mo., and moved to Ohio in 1919. They were the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Maude Yoder of West Liberty, Ohio, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Emmet (Katie) King, also of West Liberty, who survive, along with three grandchildren and 13-great-grandchildren. A sister and two halfsistes preceded her in death.
In her early years she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour, and united with the Mennonite Church. She became a member of the Union Mennonite congregation when they moved to Ohio, and remained a faithful member until death.
Her life was characterized by a steadfast devotion to her Lord. In her earlier years she served as a Sunday school teacher. She left a great spiritual heritage. This was a determining factor in God leading her two grandsons into the gospel ministry.
Funeral services were held at the Hostetler memorial Home in West Liberty, on Dec. 8, conducted by Roy Koch, assisted by Eldon and John King, grandsons of Sis. Plank.
