JOHN PETR PETKAU

John Petkau of Waldheim, Sask. died August 30. He was born in Kamenka, Russia on April 14, 1918. His mother died in 1923. His father remarried and the family came to Canada in 1926, settling in Halbstadt, Man. The family moved to Oxbow, Sask. in 1928 and in 1933 to Waldheim. In 1937 they moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Onto He accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour in 1941. The following year he married Marie Falk. In 1945 they moved to Waldheim, in 1950 back to Niagara-on-the-Lake, and in 1970 they retired to Waldheim.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; three sons: Kenneth and Rita of Waldheim, Robert and Carol of Yellowknife, N.W.T. and Donald and Janice of Hagersville, Ont.; daughter Betty and Wilf Goertz of Niagara; step mother Maria Petkau; twelve grandchildren, five brothers and four sisters. The funeral took place on September 2 in the Waldheim MB Church.
