KATIE PETERS

Katie Peters of Portage la Prairie, Man. passed away July 15. She was born July 16, 1904 to Anton and Maria Wiebe in Alexanderheim, southern Russia. She was baptized in 1916 and accepted into the MB church. In 1925 the family immigrated to Manitoba. She married Peter Peters in 1933. They farmed in Saskatchewan for 4 years, farmed near Steinbach, Man. for 1 year and then settled on a farm near Oakland, Man. She enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, reading, knitting and crocheting. She is remembered as a faithful helpmate on the farm and as one who had much joy in her family, faithfully sacrificing for her children and instructing them in the ways of the Lord. The family attended the Community Fellowship Church at Newton, Man. Predeceased by son John, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, she is mourned by her husband; sons Peter of Winnipeg and Tony of Portage la Prairie; daughters Mary Reimer, Jessie Schellenberg and Helen, all of Winnipeg, Erna of Hague, Sask. and Ester Schroeder of Winnipeg; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson and 1 sister. The funeral was July 19 in Newton Community Fellowship Church, with Art Willms and Neil Remple ministering.
