Her mother passed away when she was seven years old and her father when she was 19. She was baptized at the age of 19 on May 22, 1899 by Elder Peter J. Friesen and joined the Mennonite church at Henderson. She was married on January 22, 1903 to John A. Peters. Eleven children were born to them, four having preceded her in death.

Our parents resided at Quincy, Wash. for 20 years, then at Deer Park, for 18 years, and at Newport for 17 years. Their golden wedding was celebrated in January 1953. On Aug. 2, 1858, father passed away after over 55 years of marriage.

After it was not advisable for mother to live alone any more, she moved to the rest home where she was a contented and happy resident for a little more than seven months. On July 6 she suffered a stroke and from that time on was in serious condition. On July 9 and 10 all the children came to see her, and she recognized and spoke to each one. After a week she had another stroke on July 16 and another on July 17. She remained in critical condition until her homegoing on July 22.

Surviving are two sons, Dick and wife Edna of Spokane, John and wife Elizabeth of Custer; five daughters, Anna and husband Elof Ostling of Kittitas, Kathryn and husband Gus Hiebert of Newport, Marie and husband Byron Watts of Sacramento, Calif., Eva and husband Robert Temple of Seattle, and Gertrude and husband Frank Loewen of Custer; a son-in-law, William D. Hiebert of Newport; one half-sister, three half-brothers, and one step-brother, all of Saskatchewan; 27 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
