MRS. MARGARETHA PETERS

Margaretha Peters was born September 2, 1885 in the village of Hierschau, S. Russia. Her parents were Jacob and Maria Plett, nee Sperling. In her sixth year her parents moved to Neu Samara, where Margaretha spent her childhood and youth. At the age of 22 she accepted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour. In the same year, 1905, she was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Mennonite Brethren Church of which she remained a faithful member until her death.

On August 6, 1922 she was united with Gerhard Peters in holy matrimony and she was willing to be a loving mother to the six children of his first marriage. The family left Russia in 1924 for a new homeland, Canada. Hepburn, Sask. was their first home in Canada. After three years, in 1925, they moved to Regina, Sask.

In 1951 they acquired a home in Vancouver. To their family were added four children-three sons and one daughter. They moved to Clearbrook in 1961, finding their spiritual home in the Clearbrook Mennonite Brethren Church.

Mrs. Peters was called home to be with the Lord on December 27. She leaves to mourn her husband, George, her three sons and daughter with their families, four sons and their families from Mr. Peters' first marriage, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, one brother, one sister and many relatives and friends. Two sons, age two and age 21, both from Mr. Peters' first marriage, predeceased her.
