MISS LYDIA PETERS

Lydia Peters, daughter of Henry and Katherine Peters, of Coaldale, Alberta, was born at Glenwood, Alberta on December 20, 1927. Having attended high school and Bible school at Gem, Alberta she graduated from nurses' training at Galt Hospital in Lethbridge. She served on the staff of Steinbach, Winnipeg and Coaldale hospitals after her graduation, and for a time was instructor of nurses in Winnipeg. Falling health caused her to give up nursing and take up secretarial work for a time.

Lydia accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour at the early age of six or seven years. She was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church at Gem, Alberta on June 14, 1942. Later she transferred to the Steinbach MB Church and in 1958 affiliated with the Grant Memorial Baptist Church in Winnipeg. In 1963 she joined the Brentview Baptist Church in Calgary. She was faithful in teaching Sunday school at the Inglewood Mission in Calgary. Even while confined to her bed later, she still always kept busy writing poetry, sermonettes and meditations from God's Word. These she shared with her pastor and loved ones who called on her.

Following a lengthy illness, the Lord was pleased to take her home on Sunday, November 13, 1966. Cause of death was kidney failure.

Surviving her are: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peters of Coaldale, Alta.; two brothers, Henry of Hepburn, Sask., and Ernest of Winnipeg, Man.; five sisters: Mrs. Tina Wiebe, Gem, Alta., Mrs. Helen Klassen, Calgary, Alta., Mrs. Erna Walde, Gem, Alta. Mrs. Annie Boldt, New Haven, Conn., and Mrs. Martha Thibideau of Terrace, B.C.
