PETER D. PENNER

Peter D. Penner was born in Rosenthal, south ·Russia on November 17, 1906. The Lord called him home on May 23 in Steinbach, Manitoba. In 1926 he married Helena Giesbrecht and that same year moved to Canada. In 1926 he gave his life to the Lord and later, in 1933, he was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. The Pennel's settled first in Shaunavon, Sask., and in 1938 moved to Foam Lake, Sask., where they farmed for the next ten years. The Lord graciously saw them through depression years and later blessed them spiritually and materially. In 1948 they moved to Steinbach and farmed for another nine years. After retiring in Steinbach , Mr. Penner, unable to remain idle. worked at Banman Sales and Services. The verses of Psalm 73:23-24 expressed his life's goal. His greatest desire and prayer was to serve his Lord and to meet all his loved ones in glory. A funeral service was held May 27 in the Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church with Jacob Falk and Henry Regehr officiating. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Helena; three sons and their wives, Peter and Lydia of Steinbach, Abe and Helen of Edmonton, and Ben and Doreen of Winnipeg; three daughters, Clara (Mrs. Peter) Harms of Steinbach, Lena (Mrs . Walter) Plett of Delta, B.C., and Martha (Mrs. Ike) Fehr of Winnipeg; 25 grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; one brother, Bernhard, in Germany; one step-brother, Abram, in Brazil; two step-sisters; and many relatives and friends.
