Food Store Founder Dies at Steinbach

Steinbach, Manitoba. — Jacob A. Penner, 52, founder of Penner Foods and well-known Manitoba businessman, died here April 14 after a brief illness.

Mr. Penner was a store manager in Rosthern, Sask. before coming here in 1946. He entered the grocery business here, and later Penner Foods became associated with the Tomboy food chain. At present Penner Foods has stores in Morris, Winnipeg, and Steinbach.

Mr. Penner was active in civic affairs here and in the E. M. B. Church, where the funeral was conducted April 17.
