ABRAM H. PENNER

Abram H. Penner was born in rose Farm, Manitoba on May 17, 1906, the eighth child of Peter and Margareta Penner. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at the age of 22, and three years later was baptized and accepted into the Grossweide, Manitoba Mennonite Brethren Church. On August 30, 1931 he married Henrietta Neufeld with whom he shared 44 years. Their home, into which four children were born, was blessed with prosperity and happiness.

For many years the Penners enjoyed spiritual growth and fellowship at the Grossweide Church, where Mr. Penner served as church treasurer. They later attended the Rose Fann church, where he taught an intennediate boys Sunday school class. The Penners farmed at Kane, Manitoba for 41 years.

Two years after retiring in 1972 to Winkler, Manitoba, Mr. Penner's health began to decline. After one and a half years of illness the Lord released him from his pain and ushered him home on November 21. In a tape recording, left for the family, he clearly stated that his readiness for heaven as a sinner saved by grace was only through the blood of Christ. He assured them of his acceptance of God's will for him in his illness.

He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters. He leaves to mourn, but not without hope, his four children and their spouses: Orvan and Nonna Penner, Steinbach; Vema and George Froese, Winnipeg; Alvin and Betty Penner, Kane, Man.; and Dianne and Art Enns, Winnipeg; six grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters and their families, and many other relatives and friends.
