WILHELMINE PENNER
Wilhelmine Penner (nee Reimer) daughter of Bernhard and Helen Goossen Reimer, was born July 17, 1879 on a farm west of Beatrice, Neb. She passed to her eternal reward April 19, 1964 at the Mennonite Hospital where she had received loving and sympathetic care since the beginning of the year. Mother reached the age of 84 years, nine months, and two days.
She attended parochial school for a number of years. She was baptized upon her personal confession of faith on June 4, 1897 by Elder Gerhard Penner, becoming a member of the First Mennonite Church of Beatrice.
On April 10, 1902, she was united in marriage to Cornelius Penner. They established their home on a farm near Beatrice and the Lord blessed this home with eight children. Her husband, three infant sons and a son-in-law preceded her in death.
During the 40 years father served as minister of the church, mother faithfully supported him in his many responsibilities. As long as health permitted she actively participated in the work of the Mission Circle.
In 1940 they left the farm and established their home in Beatrice. Through God's grace they were permitted to observe their 50th anniversary in 1952. After the death of our father in 1954 her home remained the center of our family activities.
Those who remain to mourn her departure ar three sons, Louis B. and wife Gertrude of DeWitt, Neb., Gerhard H. and wife Anna of Beatrice, Waldo and wife Marie of Lincoln; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Penner of Beatrice and Helen of Champaign, Ill.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. — The Family.
