JOHN PENNER
John Penner was born to Rev. Johannes Penner and Emilie Hamm Penner on Aug. 18, 1884 near Beatrice, Neb. He attended both district school and the Mennonite parochial school during his childhood and youth.
On May 19, 1902 he was baptized upon the confession of his faith by Elder Gerhard Penner and was received into the membership of the First Mennonite church of Beatrice. He retained this membership throughout his life.
He was united in marriage with Anna Penner on May 15, 1913. One son Edgar, who died in infancy, and one daughter Erna Marie, were born into this home.
His life was spent as a farmer in Gage County, Nebr.
His wife Anna preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 1954.
He became ill on August 20, 1959 and spent the remainder of his days as a patient in the hospital, passing from this life to his eternal reward on Sunday, June 5, 1960.
He is survived by his daughter, Erna Marie, her husband John E. Reimer, and their two children, his beloved granddaughters, Marcia and Karen; two sisters, Catherine (Mrs. John F. Penner) and Anna (Mrs. Henry G. Janzen), all of Beatrice, one brother, Rudolph, of Marthaville, Mo., and many other relatives and friends.
