JACOB M. PENNER
Jacob M. Penner of Herbert, Saskatchewan, passed away at the Herbert Hospital on November 9 at the age of 70. He was born on September 16, 1899 in Federovka, Russia. In 1904 his parents emigrated to Canada, settling first in Manitoba and then moving a year later to Saskatchewan to homestead south of Herbert.
He was converted in 1917 and in 1919 he was baptized and joined the Greenfarm Mennonite Brethren Church. For many years he taught a Sunday school class. He married Eiizabeth Andres in 1920 and to their union were born five daughters, one of whom predeceased him in infancy, and two sons.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mary, at home, Elizabeth (Mrs. Irvin Gerbrandt) of Salmon Arm, B.C., Lena (Mrs. Harry Gerbrandt), Herbert, and Anne, Swift Current; two sons, John, Swift Current, and Henry, Herbert; and 18 grandchildren.
The funeral was held at the Herbert Mennonite Brethren Church, November 13, with Rev. Herman Voth and Rev. J.J. Thiessen ministering.
